This month, I had the opportunity to show my paintings in a different kind of home – a large and spacious show home in Calgary built by Monterra Homes. My painting ‘East’ was showcased in the living room, hung high above the fireplace. The paintings – minimal, ink on canvas – show well in the monochromatic and spacious house. I have posted photos of the works in a FB album:

I am pleased to be represented by a new gallery: Assiniboia Gallery, Regina, Saskatchewan. A few weeks ago, I shipped eight new paintings to Assiniboia. The recent paintings are inspired by a number of adventures into the Rocky mountains, Edworthy Park, and Montana, USA. Last fall, Aaron and I drove to Montana and the forests of burnt trees moved me. Vast areas were touched by forest fire and Aaron and I walked through the naked trees, listening to the wind whistling through the branches. A ghostly, magical space. Other trees in this series are more lush, layered by the texture of leaves and grass; while still other forests are shown in cool evening silhouette. I painted many of these pieces on location, setting up my easel and canvas in the forest. I also sketched, wrote about the spaces I visited, and took photos, which I referred back to when in the studio. I am pleased and grateful to show these pieces at Assiniboia Gallery; please check out their website: http://www.assiniboia.com/Artist.cfm.
