In September, Art Walk happens all over Calgary: galleries and artists alike open their doors to the public. On September 21 and 22, ten artists in my downtown building will welcome the public into their studios. My studio is full of new work, much of which will be shipped out in the coming months, so please come visit!
I have recently completed an Adirondack Chair for the September 21 ‘AIRdirondack Art Project Gala’ (put on by the Creative Airdrie Arts Society). Eleven artists from Airdrie and area painted chairs that will be auctioned at McArthur Fine Arts Furniture in late September. Finally, I am involved in a group exhibit at Elevation Gallery called ‘Cultivation’ opening on Saturday Sept. 28th, as part of Alberta Art Days and Art Speak. http://www.elevationgallery.ca This show aims to celebrate mentorship. Artists will show paintings between the work of their mentors’ and another artist they have mentored. In my case, I will be exhibiting paintings between my childhood mentor, Stan Phelps, and a young artist that that I have been unofficially mentoring named Michaela Fach.
